HP screws up again...

My Father retired from the US Army after 21 years. He was a computer programmer/systems analyst when he retired in 1967.
He went in search of a job in Los Angeles, Calif., HP was one of several companies that said that they would love to hire him but he was over qualified for any position they had to offer and they could not afford him.
Several years before this, in 1965, Dad wrote a program that reduced virtual war from a 15/1 to a 2/1 ratio, a code that made computer gaming reasonable as soon as the hardware could catch up. it would be years before the GUI would come around and make the code entertaining to more than a small circle of programmers.
It would be a few more Months before HP released their first entry into the home computer.

Revenue: $268.9 million. Employees: 13,430. 9100A. The programmable calculator stores programs on magnetic cards and lets scientists perform complex calculations without the need to access much larger computers. It is 10 times faster than most machines at solving science and engineering problems. Ads for the 9100A call the device a "personal computer," one of the first documented uses of the term.

Too bad they couldn't hire a few good, qualified veterans.

Christmas-who needs this shit

OK, here is is, 10 PM Christmas Eve, and I have not gotten a present for anyone. And I don't intend to rush out and get any, perhaps if I were not flat broke it would be different, but blowing off Christmas has given me a new perspective on the whole thing.

Why should I buy presents for people to celebrate the birth of Jesus when I don't believe in Jesus? Not as the God figure that Christians worship. He may have been an ascended master, but the whole God crap just does not do it for me.

I think that I'll make this an annual event, blowing off Christmas, ignoring the ads demanding I go shop till I'm broke and putting a dead tree in my house and stringing lights and the whole ball of crap.

If I ever do decide that I need to worship some invisable force it will be one I can see some tangable effects from, like magnatism or Gravity.

Jesus Christ, the way things are going they're going to crucify me!

I am often angered by the attempts of some "Christians" to force their views and beliefs on me and my Country. I would not expect to watch my fellow countrymen sit by and watch while fundmentalist Moslams took control of all of the high Government offices, nor would I expect to watch as they allowed Shinto Buddisim to become the State Religion. But I am watching them sit with closed mouths and clasped hands in fear of being labeled "Anti Christian" while Fundamentlist Christians take control of the United States Government.
Wake up people, being a Patriot means protecting the Nation from ALL ENEMYS both foriegn and domestic, protecting Liberty from being supplanted by Christ, Madonna, Budda, Ja, Yahvey or Pogo.
Being against domination of Government by any religious faction does not make you anti religious, it makes you patriotic, helping any religion take control of the Government does not make you pious or rightious, it makes you a Traitor, acting to aid in the destruction of Liberty.

Rick sold the lodge on Onion bay and the new owner, Brian, wants the site reworked.
I was never thrilled with the site Rick had, I didn't do the design and always thought it could use a reworking, glad to finaly have a go at it, watch for changes by mid May, 2005.

Early memories

Circa 1961, Santa Rosa California. There is water everywhere. A flood has come and the yard and street are under water. Cool!
I jump off a kitchen stool into my wading pool. Head first. They won't let me take my stuffed raccoon out of the Hospital with me. Not Cool!
I have a bandage on my eye.
345 Monte Vista Drive, healdsburg, CA., Grandma's house. She has a chihuahua named Penny. I have a rifle that shoots a cork on a string about 2 feet. Sometimes I can sneak up to within two feet of Penny, but not if Grandma's watching me, and it seems like she always is. She sends me outside where I shoot plums off the Plumb tree.
I looked on Google maps and the house at 345 Monte Vista is gone, as is the 345 milepost from the Alcan that Dad put there after we drove out the first time. The Plumb tree is gone, and so is Micky and Olans house where Marvin and Jerry used to tolerate my presence and Barbra would run off with Helen and try to stay away from me as much as possable. I understand now much better than I did then, why 10 year old girls would want to be far away from 5 year old boys.
